In 2001, The Hartford Chorale and the New York Choral Society visited China and performed a concert of American music at the Century Theater, Beijing and the Chinese premiere of the Verdi Requiem at the Shanghai Grand Theater. The choruses were in Beijing that night in 2001 that Beijing found out it had won the Olympics.
In June 2008, we returned to Beijing at the invitation of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and the China Performing Arts Agency and perform three concerts in the Olympic Cultural Festival.
